ISLAMABAD, September 15: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended Tuesday’s session on a bullish note, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining 1,421.67 points, or 0.85 percent, to close at 169,392.33 points.
The index had settled at 167,970.66 points in the previous trading session.
Trading activity in the ready market slowed, with 372.016 million shares changing hands compared with 570.472 million shares in the previous session. The value of shares traded also declined to Rs17.210 billion from Rs24.672 billion.
Market capitalisation, however, increased to Rs18.857 trillion, up from Rs18.728 trillion a day earlier.
Of the 494 companies traded in the ready market, 280 advanced, 166 declined and 48 remained unchanged, reflecting the overall positive momentum at the bourse.
Cnergyico PK topped the volume chart with 56.229 million shares, followed by Media Times Ltd with 39.882 million shares and Pak Refinery with 22.510 million shares.
Among the leading gainers, Pakistan Services Limited rose by Rs95.17 to close at Rs1,291.39, while Sapphire Fibres Limited added Rs32.31 to finish at Rs1,064.44.
On the other hand, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited recorded a decline of Rs174.51, closing at Rs23,934.71, while Buxly Paints Limited dropped Rs75.11 to settle at Rs676.02.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover stood at 100.221 million shares, with a traded value of Rs6.330 billion. This compared with 147.996 million shares worth Rs8.070 billion in the previous session.
Of the 311 companies traded in the DFC market, 208 advanced, 94 declined and nine remained unchanged.
