KARACHI, November 4, 2026: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has witnessed record growth in investor participation, with its registered investor base reaching an all-time high of 681,965 as younger Pakistanis increasingly enter the country’s equity market.
The exchange added 25,747 new investors in October 2026 alone, a 66 percent increase compared with the same month last year, according to Khurram Schehzad, the federal government’s Adviser on Economic and Financial Reforms.
The latest figures highlight a significant expansion in Pakistan’s capital market, with investor registrations accelerating throughout 2026 amid growing interest in stock trading and investment opportunities.
Schehzad said 218,894 new investors joined the PSX between January and October 2026, exceeding the combined number of investors registered during the previous four years.
The surge has pushed the exchange’s overall investor base up by 56 percent year-on-year, marking one of the strongest periods of investor growth in the country’s stock market.
A notable feature of the expansion is the growing participation of younger investors. According to Schehzad, Generation Z and millennials account for 85 percent of new registrations, making them the dominant demographic among first-time market entrants.
The figures indicate a shift in Pakistan’s investment landscape, with younger generations showing greater interest in equities and opportunities available through the formal financial market.
Government officials have linked the increase in investor participation to the positive impact of economic policies, while the latest registration data reflects growing public engagement with Pakistan’s capital market.
The sustained rise in new accounts also points to an expanding retail investor base, an important development for broadening participation in the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
With registrations reaching record levels and younger investors accounting for the overwhelming majority of new entrants, the PSX continues to attract a wider segment of Pakistan’s population to equity investment.
