LAHORE — Pakistan Single Window (PSW) and Government College University Lahore (GCUL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation between academia and industry, focusing on entrepreneurship, trade facilitation and practical skills development for students.
The agreement aims to align academic learning with Pakistan Single Window’s digital trade facilitation systems, giving students structured exposure to trade processes, compliance requirements and import-export mechanisms at a time when digital platforms are reshaping global commerce.
Under the MoU, PSW will provide technical expertise, training sessions, mentorship and internship opportunities. Students will gain hands-on experience with trade facilitation platforms, regulatory frameworks, digital trade solutions and emerging trends, including sustainable trade practices.
The partnership brings together PSW and GCUL’s Department of Entrepreneurship to help students understand how innovation and entrepreneurship connect with participation in domestic and international markets.
GCUL will facilitate student participation and coordinate workshops, seminars and experiential learning programmes in collaboration with PSW. The initiative includes a focus on gender-inclusive entrepreneurship, with targeted mentorship for women students to address barriers to entry in trade and business.
Syed Aftab Haider, Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Single Window, said the collaboration is intended to build trade awareness among students and provide early exposure to national trade systems and sustainability standards shaping global markets.
Prof Dr Muhammad Omer Chaudhry, Vice Chancellor of GCUL, said the agreement reflects the university’s emphasis on industry engagement that complements classroom learning and equips students with practical knowledge relevant to their entrepreneurial development.
PSW said the initiative supports Pakistan’s broader digital transformation efforts by connecting future entrepreneurs with modern trade systems and strengthening trade readiness among university students.
