Peshawar: The prospect of hosting Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Peshawar for the first time has significantly strengthened. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, during his visit to Imran Khan Cricket Stadium Peshawar, assured officials of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Department that PSL matches would be held in the city.Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed, Secretary Sports Muhammad Asif Khan and Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider were also present on the occasion.
The PCB Chairman was given a detailed briefing on the arrangements and facilities available at the stadium for hosting PSL matches. Mohsin Naqvi stated that the people of Peshawar would soon receive good news regarding PSL. He added that nearly 60 percent of the Pakistan national cricket team players belong to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which is clear evidence of the province’s immense cricketing talent.
He further announced that two teams would be formed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the future to provide more opportunities for young players to progress.
At the end of the visit the PCB Chairman also distributed prizes among the players of the PCB Inter-Schools Cricket Final.
The PCB Inter-Schools Cricket Final was played between Afridi Model School and Government High School Bashirabad. After a thrilling contest, Government High School Bashirabad defeated Afridi Model School in a Super Over to clinch the trophy.
