KARACHI: Pakistan Super League (PSL) debutants RawalPindiz have announced Naseem Shah’s partial replacement after the Pakistan fast bowler was ruled out for the foreseeable future due to a side injury sustained during their match against Karachi Kings.

The franchise confirmed that the right-arm pacer is currently under close medical supervision, with team officials targeting a possible return later in the tournament, subject to successful rehabilitation and fitness clearance. The development is significant for the Mohammad Rizwan-led side as they navigate a series of injuries to key bowlers during the ongoing PSL 11 season.

Mubasir Khan named as partial replacement

As a precautionary measure, all-rounder Mubasir Khan has been drafted into the squad as a partial replacement for Naseem Shah. Mubasir previously represented Islamabad United in the seventh and eighth editions of the PSL, featuring in 14 matches where he scored 49 runs and claimed two wickets.

Team management stated that a final decision regarding Naseem’s participation in the latter stages of the tournament will be made following further medical assessments.

Ben Sears strengthens pace attack

In addition to Mubasir’s inclusion, RawalPindiz have bolstered their bowling lineup by signing New Zealand fast bowler Ben Sears. The pacer joins the squad following injuries to both Naseem Shah and Zaman Khan, providing much-needed depth to the team’s pace resources.

Sears, who was signed for PKR 2.5 crore, is set to make his PSL debut. He brings international experience, having taken 31 wickets in 27 T20 Internationals and 10 wickets in four One Day Internationals for New Zealand. He has also featured in franchise cricket, representing Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket (MLC).

Zaman Khan replaced by Jalat Khan

RawalPindiz were further hit by injury concerns after pacer Zaman Khan suffered a dislocation of the acromioclavicular (ACJ) joint in his right shoulder while fielding for Faisalabad against Peshawar in the National T20 Cup 2026. He has subsequently been replaced in the squad by Jalat Khan.

The Mohammad Rizwan-led RawalPindiz are scheduled to face Quetta Gladiators in their next PSL 11 fixture on April 10.
