MARDAN ( khurshidwahab) Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) provincial leader Ejaz Khan Hoti advocate said that the Pakhtuns and people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are facing the worst law and order situation for the last many decades. Which has directly affected their socio-economic lives, he expressed these views while talking to the media. Ejaz Hoti added that a large number of ordinary people are falling beneath the line of poverty day by day, while the security situation has gone from bad to worse over the years. The central governments’ irresponsible and undemocratic behavior, based on injustice, and failure to implement agreements and decisions in accordance with the Constitution are amongst key reasons behind this crisis. He argued that it is alarming that as time goes by, not only these problems increase, but also bring new challenges and complications. Globally, all forms of social development are related to law and order situations. A country with a stable and peaceful environment is considered ideal for foreign investment. He added that even within a country, provinces or regions having better peace and security attract business and investment. An example is that industries and businesses are being shifted to Punjab and other places from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in increasing poverty and unemployment in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. He added that the PKMAP is the only political party that never misses an opportunity or a forum to raise the voice for the rights of the Pashtuns in the country. The party believes that a genuine democratic system and the Constitution are the only tools which can bring the unwilling situation on the track. However, keeping in view the changing times and circumstances, PKMAP is also vehemently demanding for a new social contract in harmony with current realities. For this , the party has formed and joined various alliances and platforms such as the Rahbar Committee, PNDA, PONAM, APDM, PDM, and more recently, the “Tahaffuz-e-Aeen Pakistan” (Protection of the Constitution Movement). He added that the Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai, is the central president of this movement and was honored by being nominated as a presidential candidate for Pakistan by itself is a recognition of his vision, services, and constructive politics. The worst law and order situation in Pakhtunkhwa, negatively affecting the region’s economic and social situations, has compelled the PKMAP to seek solutions collectively. To address these issues, through the centuries-old tradition of Pakhtuns Jirgas (consultative tribal councils). An old traditional forum where people sit together, consult, and seek consensus-based solutions. And to invite representatives of all political parties, business communities, religious and social organizations, and people from all walks of life to these Jirgas. As to earn their concerns and suggestions and explore the collective solutions. He added that the first such jirga, under the leadership of Mahmood Khan Achakzai, was convened in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and held over four days from 11 to 14 March 2022. This Jirgas was participated by thousands of people from every segment of the society. At the conclusion of the jirga, among many other decisions, it was also resolved that such a Jirga would continue regularly. Consequently, in continuity of the aforementioned Bannu jirga, several successful Jirga were held in the Pakhtun belt of Balochistan (Southern Pashtunkhwa). Thereafter the party focused on Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The very first Jirga was organized in district Sawabi. The second and most recent is organized in Swat on 1st June 2025.
The party has also planned and scheduled to organize such Jirga in other districts of the province as well. He added that all the Jirga which are held so far, besides some minor local demands, have clearly and strongly focused on two major demands firstly an end to the decades-long terrorism in Pakhtunkhwa and the establishment of peace and order. Secondly the improvement in the economic conditions of Pakhtuns by utilizing their vast natural resources, such as water, electricity, forests, minerals, oil, gas, archaeological sites, and cottage industries and in accordance with the Constitution, these resources should be explored, used, and managed properly, and local people and provinces should receive their fair share as guaranteed under the 18th Amendment. Doing so will not only contribute to national development but also help improve the economic and social lives of local communities. This will also enable millions of Pashtuns despite being blessed with abundant natural wealth by almighty Allah but are currently living as migrants in harsh conditions across the country and abroad, to return and live a better life in their homeland with their families. On careful observation, it becomes evident that it is the constitutional responsibility of both provincial and federal governments to fulfill these demands. PKMAP has extended a hand of cooperation in this regard. Therefore, both governments must sit with the PKMAP and work collectively for the betterment of the nation and the country.
