The Abbottabad Private Schools Association rejected the professional tax imposed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. A meeting of private school heads was held in this regard. On this occasion, a detailed discussion was held regarding the implementation of the professional tax. Concerns were expressed in the meeting over the problems faced by schools and the lack of facilities provided by the government. President Khaliqdad Khan Jadoon, Shahryar Mir, Professor Khurshid, Atif Khan, and Shahzad Gul also addressed the meeting.
President Khaliqdad Khan Jadoon said that there is no tax on educational institutions in the three provinces of the country. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has started a series of illegal taxes on private educational institutions. In the other provinces of the country, Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, professional tax is not collected and there is no regulatory authority. They have jointly decided not to pay tax. It should be noted that the Excise and Taxation Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued notices to various categories of schools to collect taxes worth millions of rupees, which are also being harassed. This is causing concern among school owners across the district and it has been decided to hold constitutional struggles at the Hazara Division level and also hold meetings with members of parliament.
