Mirpur: Deputy Commissioner Yasir Riaz has assured that the prices of essential food items will be kept stable during Ramadan. To ensure this, magistrates will conduct daily price control inspections for vegetables, fruits, meat, dairy products, pulses, and other consumables. He urged shopkeepers and wholesalers to offer maximum possible discounts during Ramadan so that citizens can access daily necessities at affordable rates.
He made these remarks while presiding over a meeting of the District Price Control Committee. The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Raja Zahid Hussain, Revenue Officer Syed Kaleem Abbas Shah, Livestock Officer Dr. Muhammad Naeem Kallas, Inspector of Weights and Measures Ejaz Ahmed, Assistant Food Controller Asif Riaz, Vice President of the District Bar Chaudhry Gul Bahar Advocate, Patron of Traders Association Asif Javed Dar, Councilor Abu Zar Sajjad, President of Wholesale Traders Sajid Younis Bhatti, Chaudhry Zulfiqar Siraj, Umair Ahmed, Muhammad Bilal Ahmed, Manawar Mehmood (Wholesale Grocery), and Imtiaz Ahmed.
During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on maintaining price stability. It was decided that strict action would be taken against those engaging in profiteering during Ramadan. Deputy Commissioner Yasir Riaz emphasized that providing affordable and quality food items to the underprivileged and working-class citizens is the responsibility of the administration and law enforcement agencies. Magistrates will conduct daily inspections, ensuring compliance in a courteous manner without causing unnecessary panic. Any violations of pricing regulations will be dealt with immediately and without any leniency.
