GENEVA: The Chairperson of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), Mrs. Farzhana Naek, met with Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Mr. Bilal Ahmed, to discuss ways to strengthen humanitarian cooperation and advance shared priorities at the global level.

The meeting at the Pakistan Mission focused on the evolving international funding environment, emerging humanitarian challenges, and opportunities for closer coordination to support relief and disaster rehabilitation efforts in Pakistan. Both sides exchanged views on leveraging international platforms to expand outreach to donors and partners, with the aim of improving the scale and quality of assistance for vulnerable communities.
Discussions also highlighted the importance of sustained engagement with the UN system and other global stakeholders to ensure timely, coordinated, and needs-based humanitarian responses. The PRCS chairperson emphasized the organization’s role as a trusted humanitarian body with strong community presence and operational reach across Pakistan.
Mrs. Naek noted that close coordination with Pakistan’s Mission to the UN is essential for aligning humanitarian priorities and mobilizing international support. She said that working together with diplomatic and humanitarian partners would help expand outreach to potential donors and strengthen collective efforts to serve vulnerable communities through effective interventions.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of PRCS and Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to continue working together in support of humanitarian objectives and disaster response initiatives.
