Rubina Khalid highlights Bhutto’s contributions, reaffirms commitment to democracy and public service

Peshawar / Islamabad — April 4, 2026: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Women’s Wing held a commemorative event to mark the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, paying tribute to his political, democratic, and national contributions.

A large number of women attended the مراسم, where participants honored Bhutto’s legacy and his role in shaping Pakistan’s political landscape.

The chief guest at the event, PPP KP Women’s Wing President and Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Rubina Khalid, described April 4 as one of the darkest days in Pakistan’s history, marking the loss of a courageous and visionary leader.

“Leaders like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto are born once in centuries. His struggle continues to guide the nation,” she said.

Khalid highlighted Bhutto’s role in laying the foundation of Pakistan’s nuclear program, adding that former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto further strengthened the country’s defense capabilities by promoting missile technology.

She also credited Bhutto’s leadership for key national achievements and emphasized that PPP governments have historically focused on development and public welfare, including initiatives such as providing citizens with identity cards and passports.

“The future of Pakistan is linked with the ideology of Bhuttoism, which stands for public service, democracy, and sovereignty,” she said.

Criticizing the current provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khalid said it had failed to deliver meaningful progress and had left the public disappointed.

She reiterated that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have always stood with Pakistan and continue to support the armed forces. She also warned against elements attempting to influence youth with anti-state narratives, stressing that PPP would never support forces working against national interests.

“We are Pakistanis first, before any ethnic identity,” she said.

Concluding her address, Khalid said Bhutto remained steadfast in his principles and made the ultimate sacrifice for the country, urging leaders and youth to follow his example.

The event concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to carrying forward Bhutto’s mission and vision.
