PPP delegation meets PM Shehbaz Sharif to discuss political and regional situation

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) delegation met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday to review the country’s political climate and the evolving regional situation, particularly developments in the Middle East, according to an official statement.

The meeting comes amid ongoing regional tensions and domestic political coordination within the ruling coalition. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said discussions focused on the prevailing political environment in Pakistan and the broader regional landscape.

According to the press release, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the PPP’s role as a key coalition partner in the government.

“The Pakistan People’s Party is an important coalition party of the government,” the premier said, as quoted in the statement. He added that the PPP had supported the government in major decisions related to national development and progress.

The PMO did not disclose specific details of the discussions.

The PPP delegation included Senator Sherry Rehman, former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, and Members of the National Assembly Naveed Qamar and Aijaz Jakhrani.

Senior members of the federal cabinet also attended the meeting. These included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal and Azam Nazeer Tarar, and the Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah.
