Poor dietary habits are contributing to a growing burden of health problems in Pakistan, with around 20% of people reportedly affected by liver and stomach diseases, according to health experts cited in a recent report.

The report also states that nearly 70% of young people in Pakistan experience back pain or joint pain, highlighting broader concerns about nutrition and lifestyle. Experts say balanced nutrition plays an important role in preventing chronic health conditions and maintaining overall well-being.

Poor Nutrition Remains a Global Health Challenge

According to a global survey referenced in the report, nearly 2 billion people worldwide become ill each year due to poor nutrition. The report identifies Eastern Europe, parts of Africa and South Asia among the regions most affected by diet-related health issues.

Health experts say poor dietary patterns are associated with an increased risk of conditions affecting the heart, liver and digestive system.

Experts Stress Importance of Balanced Nutrition

Dr. Shiraz Malik said the human body requires a variety of nutrients to function properly and that these nutritional needs are best met through a healthy and balanced diet.

He emphasized that consuming quality food can help support overall health and may reduce the risk of nutrition-related illnesses.

While the report highlights concerning trends, maintaining a balanced diet, regular physical activity and seeking medical advice when needed remain key recommendations for improving long-term health.
