KARACHI: Police Surgeon Dr Samia has told the commission investigating the Mir Raza murder case that she received threats and was allegedly followed by motorcycle riders for two days.
Dr Samia said she was also facing a public campaign against her in connection with her role in the case. She disclosed the details while appearing before the commission formed to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death.
Dr Samia reports threats and surveillance
According to her statement, Dr Samia was allegedly told that if she wrote that she had committed suicide, she would be treated with a “lighter hand.”
She also told the commission that a public campaign was being conducted against her.
Dr Samia said she had put her career at stake while handling the case and described the Mir Raza investigation as a test case for her professional role.
“I am concerned about my family, not myself,” she told the commission.
Complaint filed with NCCIA
Dr Samia informed the commission that she had also filed a complaint with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) over the threats.
The commission asked whether she required security. Dr Samia said she needed police protection.
Commission head Justice Umar Sial said he could issue directions for Rangers security. Dr Samia, however, reiterated that she did not require security.
The development comes as questions surrounding the Mir Raza case continue to be examined by the commission.
