LAHORE: The PUBG Mobile Global Open (PMGO) 2026 group stage kicked off in Lahore on Wednesday, October 21, bringing together 16 teams from across South Asia to compete for places in the tournament finals.

The competition marks the first time PMGO group-stage matches are being held in Pakistan, placing Lahore at the centre of a major regional mobile esports event.

The participating teams will compete in a series of matches where tactical decisions, positioning and individual performances will play a crucial role in determining which squads advance to the final stage.

With 16 teams competing for qualification, each match will test players’ ability to manage resources, coordinate team movements and respond to changing conditions during gameplay.

The group stage is expected to feature closely contested encounters as teams seek to secure their positions in the finals. Early eliminations, strategic rotations and performances in the closing stages of matches could influence the overall standings.

The tournament also features the Infinix GT 50 Pro as its official smartphone, highlighting the growing association between competitive mobile gaming and smartphone technology.

According to the organisers, the device features a Hydro Flow Liquid Cooling System designed to manage heat during demanding gaming sessions and support consistent performance.

The technology is aimed at maintaining device responsiveness during extended gameplay, an important consideration in competitive mobile esports where reaction time and stable performance can affect match outcomes.

Hosting the PMGO group stage in Lahore also provides Pakistan’s esports community with an opportunity to witness regional-level competition on home soil.

The event brings together competitive gaming talent from South Asia as participating squads battle for qualification to the finals.

With the group stage underway, attention now turns to the performances of the 16 teams and the race to secure a place in the tournament’s concluding round.
