ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has directed all doctors and dentists to renew their registration certificates within the prescribed six-month period.
The council has advised medical and dental professionals to take advantage of the six-month renewal window and ensure that their registrations remain active.
According to the PMDC, the renewal process is aimed at protecting patients and strengthening ethical and professional standards across the healthcare sector.
The council said regularly updating registration records is also important to maintain accurate and verifiable professional information. It added that the process would help identify inactive registrations and support efforts to prevent quackery, forgery and unauthorised medical practice.
The PMDC stressed the importance of maintaining accurate identification and professional status records for registered doctors and dentists. Regular verification of registration information can also help prevent the misuse of fraudulent qualifications and credentials.
The council said updating registration records is particularly important to prevent the possible misuse of certificates belonging to deceased doctors.
According to the PMDC, maintaining a valid and active registration is both a professional and ethical responsibility for doctors and dentists.
The council added that timely renewal could also facilitate professional opportunities for healthcare practitioners in Pakistan and abroad, while helping authorities identify outdated or inactive registration records and take appropriate action.
