PMAS-AAUR Launches Research Collaboration with Canadian Universities, Eyes Expansion to US and Europe

Rawalpindi — Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) has initiated formal research collaborations with four Canadian universities, with plans to expand the scope of cooperation to institutions in the United States and Europe.

Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman said the partnerships are designed to align postgraduate research with global standards and ensure that academic work addresses real-world challenges. “Our university is moving beyond traditional research and focusing on solving problems faced by industry and farmers,” he told postgraduate students during an orientation session organized by the Directorate of Advanced Studies.

Focus on Applied Research

Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman urged students to channel their research towards strengthening the national economy and advancing the agriculture sector. He noted that the university is taking steps to promote research, enhance training, and provide guidance, with international collaborations forming part of a broader effort to raise academic standards and improve Pakistan’s global academic reputation.

The session aimed to build research capacity among postgraduate students and familiarize them with the university’s framework. Training was provided on key components of the research process, including literature review, methodology, data analysis, and citation practices.

Upcoming Initiatives

The Postgraduate Research Review and Evaluation Committee delivered a presentation, while students were briefed on the upcoming Poster Session scheduled for February 2026. The Vice Chancellor emphasized that adherence to ethical principles and strict quality assurance standards are essential for credible research outcomes.

The event concluded with an interactive dialogue between faculty and students, where suggestions were shared to further improve research quality.
