ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday welcomed Moody’s decision to assign a stable outlook to Pakistan’s banking sector, calling it a positive signal of improving economic fundamentals and prudent policy management.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif said the assessment reflects growing international confidence in Pakistan’s financial system and macroeconomic direction. He noted that the outlook would help strengthen investor sentiment at a time when the government is focused on stabilisation and recovery.

The prime minister praised the efforts of the government’s economic team, saying their work had contributed to restoring stability and supporting growth. He said reports and ratings issued by international institutions indicate that Pakistan’s economic trajectory is moving in a more positive direction.

Shehbaz Sharif said the recognition by Moody’s underscores the impact of economic reforms and policy discipline aimed at strengthening the financial sector. He added that the government remains committed to maintaining macroeconomic stability, supporting the banking system, and continuing reforms to sustain growth.
