ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday congratulated Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei and expressed hope that he would guide the country toward peace, stability and prosperity.
In a message shared on social media platform X, the prime minister extended his congratulations to the new leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and conveyed condolences over the death of former supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Sharif expressed sympathy to the Iranian leadership and people, offering prayers following the assassination of the former leader and members of his family in coordinated airstrikes on March 1.
The prime minister said he was confident that Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei would lead Iran toward peace and stability in the coming years.
The leadership change in Iran comes amid heightened regional tensions following recent military developments involving the United States and Israel.
