PM Shehbaz Calls for Nationwide Diabetes Prevention Strategy

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the development of a comprehensive strategy to prevent diabetes, stressing the need to strengthen public awareness and promote healthier lifestyles across Pakistan.

The prime minister issued the directive during a meeting with a delegation of international and national medical experts specialising in diabetes treatment. Discussions focused on disease prevention and expanding public awareness about the growing health challenge.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasised that addressing diabetes required greater attention to prevention alongside treatment, describing the issue as an increasingly important public health concern.

He directed the relevant authorities to take effective measures to promote healthy lifestyles among young people, particularly students in colleges and universities.

The prime minister also called for nationwide awareness campaigns highlighting the importance of balanced nutrition, regular physical activity and healthy daily habits.

He further instructed that information about diabetes prevention, timely diagnosis and healthy living be disseminated through television, radio, digital platforms and other communication channels.

The initiative aims to strengthen public understanding of diabetes risks and encourage preventive health practices, with particular emphasis on younger generations.
