ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday took cognizance of the complaints of domestic consumers on shortage of gas supply aimed at ensuring uninterrupted supply to consumers during the winter season.
The Prime Minister, who chaired a meeting here to review the gas supply situation across the country, ordered a permanent solution to the problem by introducing reforms in the structure of the system.
“Providing gas to domestic consumers is the highest priority of the government,” the Prime Minister said.
During the briefing, it was informed that there is an excess of RLNG (Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas) in the system, which has led to improved gas load management compared to last year.
The meeting was told that the duration of gas load shedding this year was shorter than last year.
Gas is provided to domestic consumers from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., gas is also provided to the energy industry according to its demand, the meeting was further informed.
Similarly, online dashboards for consumer complaints from SNGPL and SSGC were said to be functional and the complaint resolution rate for SNGPL was 93% while that of SSGC was 79%.
According to the briefing, all gas fields in the country were active.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister of Economy Ahmad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik, Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ihsan Afzal and other relevant senior government officials.
