ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday directed relevant authorities to take swift action against those involved in the recent riots, vandalism and mayhem and damage to public and private property in Islamabad.
He, however, ordered to ensure that no innocent and law-abiding citizen was arrested during the crackdown against the spreading chaos.
The Prime Minister presiding over the review meeting on the law and order situation stressed that the government will not allow anyone to disrupt the stability of the rapidly improving economy by creating chaos.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also ordered to streamline the process of identifying those inciting the disorder and collect solid evidence against them.
“Give the task force formed to act against such elements all necessary resources,” he said.
The Prime Minister also ordered that the Federal Prosecutor’s Office be subordinated to the Ministry of Law.
He also asked the relevant authorities to complete the construction of Islamabad jail as soon as possible and ensure immediate release of funds for the purpose.
During the meeting, it was informed that in addition to increasing the number of Safe City cameras, the scope of the Islamabad Safe City project is expanding.
The meeting was also informed that the Islamabad jail building would be completed by March next year.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Economy Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Adviser to Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah, Minister of State for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Coordinator of Prime Minister Rana Ihsana Afzal and other relevant senior officials.
