Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif opened the ceremony at the Pakistan Stock Exchange by ringing a gong, marking his first visit to a stock exchange in the country’s leading financial hub. Addressing the participants, he emphasized that the achievements achieved are the result of teamwork, stability and growth for the economic future of Pakistan. The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan has achieved macroeconomic stability, which now needs to be transformed into sustainable economic growth. “Stability is a milestone, but our real goal is economic growth,” he said, noting that Pakistan’s economy is on its feet. “Now we have to move towards economic growth, which requires the best teamwork and hard work.” He announced that the recently launched Uranus Pakistan program was aimed at promoting economic development and social prosperity. “The program will take us on a path of progress and prosperity, combining Pakistan’s talent, natural resources and hard work,” he said. Shehbaz further noted that the situation will escalate as the country moves towards growth. “We will have to manage these things,” he added. Prime Minister Shehbaz hailed Karachi as a commercial, financial and export hub of Pakistan and noted that the city’s revival is a beacon of economic activity. “Once the lights of Karachi were dimmed but now they shine brightly again,” he said, reiterating Karachi’s key role in the nation’s economic revival. “I will soon invite the experts and listen to their sweet, sour and bitter things. Those who say everything is fine are living in a fool’s paradise,” the Prime Minister declared. In response to Pakistan’s financial woes, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fulfilling promises made to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). However, he expressed a desire to reduce dependence on the IMF in the future. “When the time comes, we will say goodbye to the IMF,” he declared. He asked how it was possible to have a begging bowl in one hand and atomic energy in the other. “Can fire and water ever become one?” he asked. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of learning from history and drew parallels with nations like Germany and Japan that rose from the ashes of World War II to achieve remarkable progress. “Pakistan must restore its honor among the nations of the world,” he urged. “We have inexhaustible treasures and human brains. Pakistan will survive till the end of time so it must be strengthened,” urged Shehbaz. The Prime Minister called for joint efforts and realistic planning to achieve economic growth and emphasized the need to honestly face strengths and weaknesses. “The facts, good or bad, we have to acknowledge if we are to move forward,” he said, adding that natural resources are worth trillions of dollars. He added that investors are central to Pakistan’s development and need to be supported through policy coherence and teamwork. “We have inexhaustible treasures and brilliant human minds and together we will ensure that Pakistan prospers till the end of time,” he concluded.
