Mardan: Dr. Nadeem Iqbal is a distinguished educationist and IT researcher whose significant contributions to artificial intelligence and its application in health have significantly impacted society. He was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Award and a grant that allowed him to conduct advanced research at St. John’s University, New York. Dr. Iqbal also completed his post-doctorate at the University of Leeds, UK. He holds a Ph.D. in Brain Engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea, an internationally recognized institution, and MS in Computer System Engineering from GIK Institute of Science and Engineering Technology, Pakistan. Dr. Iqbal’s research expertise spans A.I., machine learning, and biomedical engineering. His PhD work on human gaze estimation using 3D geometrical data led to two patents, including a system that inspired Samsung’s gaze control technology in Galaxy smartphones. During her postdoctoral research in Leeds, she developed innovative, low-cost smart prosthetic devices to improve children’s lower limb mobility. This work is especially valuable in countries like Pakistan, where accidents and advances in medical care are increasing the demand for synthetic solutions. Its work provides affordable and life-enhancing solutions for amputees, especially servicemen, enabling them to lead healthy and productive lives. His contributions have been highlighted on various media platforms, including an appearance on Voice of America (VOA). Dr. Iqbal developed an open source software solution for fake news detection, providing the foundation for future applications to counter disinformation to address the global challenges of disinformation and deep fake analysis. As a senior member of IEEE and member of International Association of Engineers (IAENG), Dr. Iqbal has demonstrated exemplary leadership. As head of the Computer Science Department at AWKUM, he started the BS in Cyber Security program and set up four IT labs to promote research and innovation. He has organized national science exhibitions and international conferences, promoting technological advancement. Recognized with the Vice Chancellor’s Certificate of Appreciation, Dr. Iqbal has supervised several MS and Ph.D. His innovative research, leadership, and teaching philosophy solves critical societal challenges, fosters collaboration, and inspires the next generation of IT professionals.
