PIA board reviews salary increase proposal, plans to add two Boeing aircraft

KARACHI — Tuesday, September 8, 2026: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) board held a lengthy meeting on Tuesday to review key operational and administrative matters, including a proposal to increase employees’ salaries and plans to acquire two Boeing aircraft on a wet-lease basis.

The meeting was chaired by PIA Board Chairman Lieutenant General (retd) Anwar Ali Haider. The airline’s Chief Financial Officer presented the employee salary increase proposal to the board for consideration.

The board was also briefed on plans to obtain two Boeing aircraft through wet leasing. According to the briefing, the arrangements for the two aircraft are expected to be finalised soon.

PIA plans repairs for grounded aircraft

The board decided to repair PIA’s grounded Boeing aircraft and bring them back into service as soon as possible.

The meeting was informed that spare parts were being purchased for the repair and restoration of the aircraft.

New cabin crew recruitment also discussed

The PIA board also considered the recruitment of new cabin crew members as part of the airline’s operational planning.

A new dress code for PIA employees was also discussed during the meeting.

The salary proposal, aircraft wet-lease plans and efforts to restore grounded aircraft are among the key matters considered by the PIA board as the national airline works on its fleet and operational requirements.
