Islamabad: Serious allegations of conflict of interest have surfaced against the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC), prompting the company’s Board of Directors to establish a fact-finding inquiry committee to investigate the matter.

According to reliable sources, concerns have been raised regarding the CEO’s alleged private business interests, potential conflicts of interest, and the possible misuse of official resources. The issue reportedly came under review after records and documentary evidence were presented before the board.

Sources said the board sought an explanation from the CEO. However, given the sensitive nature of the allegations and the possibility of violations of company policies, the board decided that a formal investigation was necessary.

The inquiry committee has been tasked with examining all relevant facts, records, and allegations before submitting its findings to the board. Based on the committee’s report, the board will consider appropriate legal and administrative action in accordance with the company’s human resources policies and other applicable laws.
