LAHORE: The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association has issued an important clarification for citizens benefiting from the Prime Minister’s petrol subsidy scheme, stating that discounted petrol will only be provided to registered vehicles with a valid subsidy token generated in the system.
Association representative Nauman Ali Butt said petrol pump operators are required to follow the government’s instructions and provide subsidized fuel only to vehicles whose registration and token are verified in the system.
He clarified that a subsidy token issued for one vehicle cannot be used to obtain discounted petrol for another vehicle. Unregistered vehicles or vehicles without a valid token will not qualify for the subsidized fuel.
Butt urged citizens not to pressure petrol station staff to provide subsidized petrol for another vehicle or motorcycle and advised beneficiaries to bring the vehicle linked to their registered subsidy token.
More than five million people have reportedly registered for the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme.
Under the scheme, registered beneficiaries are being provided petrol at a discount of up to Rs100 per litre, with a digital system being used to process eligible consumers and facilitate subsidized fuel distribution across the country.
