ISLAMABAD, October 23, 2026: The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association has renewed its objections to the daily fuel price adjustment mechanism, warning that frequent changes in petroleum prices are causing financial losses and disrupting business operations.

The association has written to Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, seeking an urgent meeting to discuss the difficulties faced by petrol pump operators and propose practical solutions to the pricing system.

In a letter sent by the association’s Vice Chairman Nauman Ali Butt, petrol pump owners said repeated adjustments in petroleum product prices were creating uncertainty in fuel purchasing, sales and inventory management.

Frequent price changes disrupt business operations

According to the association, daily fluctuations in fuel prices make it increasingly difficult for petrol pump operators to determine the value of their existing petroleum stocks.

The owners said changes in prices could result in financial losses on fuel purchased at earlier rates, while repeated adjustments were complicating routine business decisions.

The letter highlighted growing difficulties in managing cash flow and maintaining accurate inventory records, particularly when the value of available stock changes frequently.

The association argued that the uncertainty surrounding petroleum prices was affecting the purchase and sale of fuel and making day-to-day operations more difficult for retailers.

It maintained that the existing pricing mechanism needed to be reviewed to address the financial and operational challenges faced by petrol pump businesses.

Association seeks consultation with petroleum minister

The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association called for a practical and transparent mechanism for determining petroleum product prices.

It urged the federal government to consult petrol pump owners before making decisions affecting fuel pricing, saying the concerns of retailers should be considered alongside the need to maintain an uninterrupted supply of petroleum products to consumers.

The association also requested a meeting with Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik to present its concerns directly and discuss recommendations for improving the pricing framework.

The letter stressed that any pricing arrangement should protect the legitimate interests of petrol pump operators without disrupting fuel availability for the public.

The association’s renewed objections come amid concerns within the petroleum retail sector over the financial implications of frequent fuel price revisions.
