Islamabad: The details of taxes included in the current prices of petrol and diesel have been disclosed.

According to the report, sources in the Petroleum Division claimed that 29 percent tax is included in the per-liter price of petrol. This means that PKR 88.07 per liter of petrol accounts for taxes.

Sources said that the per-liter petrol price includes PKR 19.32 as customs duty, PKR 66.25 as petroleum levy, and PKR 2.50 as climate support levy.

Similarly, according to Petroleum Division sources, 29 percent taxes are also included in the per-liter price of diesel, amounting to PKR 91.15 per liter. This includes PKR 15.68 as customs duty, PKR 72.97 as levy, and PKR 2.50 as climate support levy.

The government had reduced petrol and diesel prices two days ago by PKR 74.28 and PKR 67.31 per liter respectively. After the reduction, the new price of petrol is PKR 299.50 per liter, and diesel is PKR 311.47 per liter.
