Peshawar Approves Free Electric Scooters for Female Students and Working Women

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a programme to provide free electric scooters to female students and working women in Peshawar, with officials directed to begin arrangements for their distribution.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. According to the briefing, the programme will initially cover women in Peshawar before being expanded to other districts in a subsequent phase.

Electric Scooters for Women in Peshawar

The chief minister directed relevant authorities to take immediate steps to implement the scooter distribution programme.

Officials said the initiative is intended to help female students and working women gain safer and more accessible transportation for education and employment.

Programme May Expand to Other Districts

The government plans to extend the electric scooter programme beyond Peshawar in the next phase.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the use of electric scooters could also contribute to reducing air pollution while improving women’s access to educational institutions and workplaces.
