Peshawar, April 1, 2026 — A ceremony was held in Peshawar to mark 75 years of Pakistan–China diplomatic relations, with local officials highlighting the long-standing partnership between the two countries across economic, strategic and cultural sectors.

The event, organised by the district administration in collaboration with China Window, brought together officials, diplomats and community representatives to reaffirm the significance of Pak–China ties, often described as an “iron brothers” relationship rooted in mutual trust and shared interests.

Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Sanaullah Khan said the relationship has evolved over decades into a comprehensive partnership, with both countries supporting each other during challenging periods and maintaining close cooperation in diplomacy, defence and economic development.

He highlighted the role of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), describing it as a key driver of infrastructure development, energy projects and trade connectivity in Pakistan.

Focus on regional cooperation and future engagement

Officials noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly Peshawar, has historically served as a hub of trade and cultural exchange, and is expected to play a greater role in future cooperation between the two countries.

They also emphasised that bilateral relations extend beyond government-level engagement, with strong people-to-people connections contributing to the durability of the partnership.

Anniversary events planned

Amjad Aziz Malik, Administrator of China Window, said that the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations is being observed at the national level in both countries. He added that a series of events will be held throughout the year in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, to promote cultural exchange and strengthen ties.

The ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting event to commemorate the milestone.
