PESHAWAR, May 4: Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has introduced QR code bill payments on all electricity bills, allowing consumers to pay online through mobile banking apps and digital platforms without visiting banks.
The move is aimed at simplifying the payment process and reducing queues, as consumers can now scan a QR code and pay their bills instantly from their phones.
QR code payments rolled out for all consumers
PESCO Chief Executive Officer Engr. Akhtar Hamid Khan said the feature has been added to all bills, enabling users to complete payments with a single scan.
He said the initiative will improve convenience by allowing payments anytime, from anywhere, without the need for physical visits.
Part of push toward digital payments
The company said the step aligns with government efforts to promote digital payments in the power sector. The CEO noted that the initiative follows directions from Minister for Energy (Power Division) Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Laghari.
He also acknowledged the support of PESCO Chairman Himayatullah Khan in implementing the project.
How to use the QR code on bills
Consumers can scan the QR code printed on their bill using mobile banking apps or digital wallets to complete payment. A confirmation message is generated after a successful transaction.
PESCO advised users to check their name and address on the bill before scanning to ensure correct payment processing.
