Regional Police Officer Kohat Abbas Majeed Marwat and Commissioner Kohat Mutasim Ballah have said that religious tolerance and sustainable peace will be maintained in Kohat region. Addressing separate meetings of the Shi’ite and Sunni Ulema and Peace Committee of Hangu in the DPO Office Hangu, he said that extraordinary security measures were being taken in Muharram al -Haram, and that provocative, hateful speeches and slogans would be strictly banned.
The meeting was attended by DPO Hangu Khalid Khan, Deputy Commissioner Gohar Wazir, MNA Yousuf Khan, MPA Shah Tarab Khan, Tehsil Chairman Aamir Ghani, members of the peace committee and senior journalist. The RPO said that Hangu’s elders played a positive role in solving the problems of Kurram, Orakzai and other areas in the past, and even today, scholars, social and business circles are working together for peace.
Commissioner Mutasim Ballah said that peace and development depends on interfaith harmony, and social media is also responsible.
The scholars and leaders vowed to keep a close watch on the miscreants, assuring full cooperation. Earlier, the RPO and the Commissioner were given a salute on arrival at the DPO office and a new conference room was inaugurated.
