Passenger Coach Falls into Gorge on Swat Motorway, 4 Dead Including Children, 18 Injured

SWAT: At least four passengers, including two young sisters, were killed and 18 others injured when a passenger coach travelling from Swabi to Mingora plunged into a gorge on the Swat Motorway due to overspeeding and loss of control by the driver, officials confirmed.

Coach loses control near Chakdara Interchange

According to Malakand Levies, the passenger coach, driven by Khalid Khan, son of Misri Khan, went out of control and fell into the gorge near the Chakdara Interchange.

Victims identified, including two minor sisters

The deceased were identified as Adil, son of Muhammad Islam from Buner; Iftikhar, son of Ghulam Muhammad; and two minor daughters of Shah Faisal — eight-year-old Vareesha and ten-year-old Laiba, residents of Swabi.

The injured include Muhammad Younis; wife of Muhammad Hussain (Swat); Muhammad Idrees (Buner); Osama; Aziz; Hamesh; Shah Faisal; Riaz; Sadais; Junaid; wife of Iftikhar; Israr; Fazal Hadi; Sher Zaman; Haris; Sayeel; Haseeba, daughter of Iftikhar; and Umair.

Injured shifted to hospitals, some in critical condition

Rescue teams and Malakand Levies reached the scene promptly and shifted the injured to DHQ Hospital Batkhela, while four critically injured victims were later referred to Saidu Group of Teaching Hospitals, Swat. Hospital sources confirmed that several patients remain in critical condition.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the passenger coach was travelling at high speed when the driver lost control, resulting in the fatal accident. Authorities said the driver fled the scene, and a search operation is underway.
