Islamabad : Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez has said that National Assembly Library and Research Center has pivotal role to strengthen Parliamentary research. He also said that research centre plays an important role in providing information and support to Honourable Members National Assembly for ensuring innovative research-based legislation.
The speaker said that these departments after upgradation would provide support to the members of the National Assembly in legislation and policy making in an efficient way. He said that the library and research centre creates stronger linkage between people and its representative. He also expressed his resolve that a new era of digitization and information technology would render National Assembly as an organisation to be emulated.
He expressed these views while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony for the upgradation and renovation of the National Assembly Library and Research Center. General Secretary National Assembly Mr.Tahir Hussain, Special Secretary for Special Initiatives Syed Shimoun Hashmi, Special Secretary Legislation Muhammad Mushtaq and senior officers of the National Assembly participated also graced the occasion.
On this occasion, Special Secretary National Assembly for Special Initiatives Syed Shimoun Hashmi briefed the Speaker National Assembly about the up-gradation and renovation of the National Assembly Library and Research Center. He also said that the up-gradation of the National Assembly Library and Research Center would be undertaken keeping in view the needs and trends till 2050. He said that all the records of the National Assembly are also being digitized.He said that this record will be kept in the ‘National Archive of Pakistan’ and ‘Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology’ apart from the library of the National Assembly.
He said that the tenders for the upgradation of the National Assembly Library and Research Center have been issued and the work on it will be started very soon. It is pertinent to mention that the upgradation of the library and research center of the National Assembly is the vision of the speaker of the National Assembly, Raja Pervez Ashraf.
