During winter, the unavailability of natural gas makes accessing hot water a significant challenge. However, solar water heaters offer a promising solution to this problem. These water heaters, often referred to as geysers, use a series of pipes to heat water efficiently.
Connected to a water tank, these solar geysers utilize sunlight to maintain hot water. The water temperature can be monitored on a control board or through a mobile application for added convenience.
According to media reports, solar water geysers are available in sizes of 150 liters, 200 liters, and 300 liters, priced at PKR 125,000, PKR 140,000, and PKR 185,000, respectively.
This heating system operates by filling solar tubes with water, which are connected to an overhead water tank. These solar tubes absorb sunlight and convert it into heat, warming the water inside. The heated water flows back to the tank, while colder water from the tank enters the tubes, creating a continuous cycle.
Experts highlight that solar geysers are eco-friendly and do not contribute to respiratory diseases. They eliminate the need for collecting firewood or incurring expenses on kerosene or other fuels. With a solar geyser, there’s no need to burn wood for cooking, bathing, or washing dishes and clothes, making it a sustainable and cost-effective alternative.
