Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts have paid off, with the country playing a key role in brokering a ceasefire between the US and Iran. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir are being hailed as heroes, with Sharif spending most of his day receiving congratulatory calls from world leaders.
The international community is praising Pakistan’s role in promoting peace, with MQM-P Chairman Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui saying the country’s diplomacy has advanced global peace efforts. The ceasefire agreement has also been welcomed by the National Assembly, with lawmakers from both the government and opposition benches lauding Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.
However, India’s reaction to the ceasefire has been relatively muted, with officials downplaying Pakistan’s role in brokering the deal. Indian officials claim that multiple countries, including China, were involved in securing the ceasefire.
Analysts say Pakistan’s diplomatic success is a significant shift in the regional dynamics, highlighting the country’s strategic location and its relations with key players in the region. Pakistan’s ability to balance its relationships with Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the US has given it a unique position to facilitate dialogue and promote peace.
The ceasefire agreement has also sparked debate in India, with the opposition Congress party criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policy of isolating Pakistan. The party says Pakistan’s role in brokering the ceasefire is a setback for India’s efforts to isolate the country.
