ISLAMABAD: Pakistani workers who have returned home after completing employment in South Korea under the Employment Permit System (E-9) have been advised to check whether they are eligible to claim dormant insurance benefits still held in their names.
The Pakistan EPS Center, headed by Director Jeongbang Park, is facilitating former Pakistani workers who have not received their Departure Guarantee Insurance and Return Cost Insurance benefits.
According to the center, dormant insurance refers to benefits that remained unclaimed for more than three years after becoming payable, causing the statutory claim period to expire. The funds were intended to cover workers’ severance-related benefits and return travel expenses and are currently held by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea (HRDK).
Eligible Workers Asked to Check OEC List
The Pakistan EPS Center said many eligible Pakistani workers have yet to claim their outstanding insurance funds. Contacting some former workers has been difficult because their registered contact details are outdated or incorrect.
To help locate eligible workers, the EPS Center, in collaboration with the Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC), has published a list of workers who may be entitled to claim the funds on the official OEC website.
Former workers who have returned to Pakistan are advised to check the list and, if their names appear, follow the prescribed procedure, prepare the required documents and submit their applications to the Pakistan EPS Center through registered post.
Assistance Available for Recent Returnees
Workers who have recently returned from South Korea without claiming their insurance benefits can also approach Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance directly to begin the claim process.
They may alternatively submit their applications to the Pakistan EPS Center for assistance and guidance.
The center has urged former Pakistani workers to verify their eligibility and take timely steps to claim any outstanding insurance benefits to which they may be entitled.
