NAGOYA: Organisers of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games have apologised after Pakistan’s volleyball team was taken to the wrong venue before its Pool A match against Uzbekistan, causing a delay to the start of the game.
According to organisers, Pakistan’s team was supposed to travel to Okazaki, but the bus driver mistakenly took the squad to Anjo, where a practice venue was located.
The mistake was discovered before the match, after which the team was redirected to Okazaki. The match schedule was subsequently pushed back to accommodate the delay.
Pakistan captain Murad Jahan expressed concerns over the incident in a video shared on social media, describing it as another organisational issue during the Games.
Organisers also apologised to South Korea’s team, which missed its scheduled practice session after being taken to the wrong location.
Despite the disruption and travel difficulties, Pakistan produced a strong performance against Uzbekistan, securing a 3-0 victory and recording its second consecutive win in the competition.
Organisers have previously apologised for transport and logistical issues affecting teams during the Asian Games.
