KABUL— Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, reaffirmed Islamabad’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination during a solemn ceremony held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul to mark October 27 as “Black Day.”
Addressing attendees, Ambassador Nizamani emphasized that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains a critical issue on the global agenda. He underscored two enduring constants throughout the conflict’s history: the resilience of the Kashmiri people and Pakistan’s steadfast political, diplomatic, and moral backing for their legitimate aspirations.
The ambassador voiced concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, citing reports from international human rights organizations. He warned that India’s continued occupation has repeatedly threatened regional peace and stability. While reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful coexistence, he stressed that lasting peace in South Asia hinges on a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people.
Ambassador Nizamani urged the international community to play a proactive role in persuading India to implement the relevant UN resolutions fully.
The ceremony also included the reading of official messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar. A documentary highlighting the Kashmir issue was screened for attendees, reinforcing Pakistan’s continued advocacy for the region’s people.
