ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s armed forces carried out a targeted strike on the brigade headquarters of the Afghan Taliban’s 205 Corps in Kandahar as part of the ongoing Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, security sources said on Thursday.

According to officials, the operation also hit ammunition depots linked to Afghan Taliban forces, causing significant damage to what authorities described as militant infrastructure. The action is part of Pakistan’s broader campaign against groups accused of supporting attacks inside the country.

Security sources said Operation Ghazab Lil Haq was launched to dismantle militant networks, launch pads and logistical facilities used by armed groups operating along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Earlier, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said the operation had inflicted heavy losses on militant elements. He stated that since the start of the campaign, 481 operatives linked to the Afghan Taliban regime had been killed, while 226 checkpoints were destroyed and 35 others captured by Pakistani forces.

Officials said Pakistan’s armed forces are continuing both ground and aerial operations against militants, including groups described by authorities as Fitna al-Khawarij.

Sources also indicated that Pakistani forces recently carried out a strike on Afghanistan’s Bagram Air Base, describing it as a strategically important target linked to militant activity.

The operation reflects Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to eliminate militant threats and prevent cross-border attacks, as tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier remain high.
