ISLAMABAD, November 3, 2026: Pakistan has allocated Rs995 million in budgetary support for the Pakistan Space Centre project during the 2026-27 fiscal year, as the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) continues work on the Rs37.72 billion initiative.

According to an official document available with Wealth Pakistan, the allocation includes Rs145 million under the rupee cover component and Rs850 million under the local component.

The project, funded by China, was approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on November 14, 2018.

Despite receiving approval nearly eight years ago, the Pakistan Space Centre has achieved 21 percent physical progress, according to the document.

Estimated expenditure on the project stood at approximately Rs6.13 billion up to June 30, 2026, while the projected expenditure carried forward from July 1, 2026, amounted to around Rs31.59 billion.

The proposed space centre is intended to strengthen Pakistan’s technical expertise and infrastructure for space research and related applications.

The facility is expected to support the country’s long-term scientific and technological development by expanding capabilities in space-related fields.

The latest budgetary provision will support the project’s continued implementation, although its completion will depend on sustained financing and progress in the coming fiscal years.
