Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday met with his Saudi Arabian counterpart to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in the fight against drug trafficking and solving public security issues.
Naqvi and Saudi Interior Minister Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif held a high-level meeting in Riyadh where security interests and cooperation issues were discussed.
Abdulaziz welcomed Naqvi and his delegation and expressed the Kingdom’s commitment to support Islamabad.
In response, Naqvi highlighted the deep religious and brotherly ties between the two countries and said, “Saudi Arabia has supported Pakistan in difficult times and we appreciate this continued cooperation.”
The Pakistani delegation consisted of Ambassador Ahmed Farooq, Director General of Passports and Immigration Mustafa Jamal Kazi and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Riffat Mukhtar Raja.
High-ranking Saudi officials were also present, including Deputy Interior Minister Nasser Al-Dawud and Director of Public Security Lt. General Mohammed Al-Bassami.
The leaders reaffirmed their determination to strengthen cooperation in counter-narcotics and areas of common interest, further strengthening the historic and strategic relationship between the two countries.
During his visit to Saudi Arabia, Naqvi earlier visited the Saudi Safe City Center and Public Security Police Center in Riyadh, where he inspected the state-of-the-art crime prevention system.
He also held a meeting with Saudi Interior Minister Dr Khalid Mohammed Abdullah Al Battal where mutual interests and Pak-Saudi relations were discussed.
During the meeting, both countries agreed to activate a joint task force for public safety as soon as possible.
