ISLAMABAD: Pakistan received $4.3 billion in workers’ remittances during May 2026, reflecting continued growth in overseas inflows and providing support to the country’s external account position, according to official data.
The latest figures show that remittances increased by 20.2 percent compared to the previous month and rose 15.4 percent on a year-on-year basis, highlighting sustained contributions from overseas Pakistanis.
According to the data, total workers’ remittances reached $38.1 billion during the first eleven months of fiscal year 2025-26 (July-May), compared with $34.9 billion recorded during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
The increase represents a growth of 9.2 percent in cumulative remittance inflows over the corresponding period.
Saudi Arabia Remains Largest Source Of Remittances
Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances to Pakistan during May 2026, with overseas Pakistanis sending $1.025 billion.
The United Arab Emirates ranked second with remittances of $1.006 billion, followed by the United Kingdom with $645.5 million and the United States with $349.8 million.
Overseas Inflows Continue To Support Economy
Workers’ remittances remain an important source of foreign exchange for Pakistan and play a key role in supporting household incomes, consumption, and external sector stability.
The latest increase in inflows comes amid continued efforts to facilitate formal remittance channels and strengthen engagement with overseas Pakistanis.
