RAWALPINDI — Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across Pakistan with religious zeal, as citizens and political leaders gather in their hometowns and designated locations for Eid prayers and festivities.
On the first day of Eid, key political figures marked the occasion in different parts of the country, joining congregations and local communities.
President Asif Ali Zardari offered Eid prayers in Nawabshah, continuing his longstanding tradition of celebrating in his native city.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered Eid prayers in Lahore’s Model Town area, while former prime minister Nawaz Sharif performed prayers in Jati Umra.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also celebrated Eid in Jati Umra, while Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah marked the occasion in Sehwan.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Suhail Afridi offered Eid prayers in Peshawar before travelling to his native Khyber region, while Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti marked Eid in Quetta.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari offered Eid prayers in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Larkana. Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani celebrated in Multan, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq attended prayers in Lahore, and Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah marked Eid in Nawabshah.
Among opposition leaders, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman celebrated Eid in his native village Abdalkhel near Dera Ismail Khan, while Mehmood Khan Achakzai marked the occasion in Chaman.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar observed Eid with flood-affected communities in Buner, while Sheikh Rashid Ahmed celebrated at Lal Haveli in Rawalpindi. PTI founder Imran Khan marked Eid from Adiala Jail.
Across the country, the presence of political leaders at various locations prompted security arrangements, while citizens continue to celebrate the festival over the three days of Eid.
