ISLAMABAD — Pakistan has temporarily paused the preparation of its Hajj flight schedule as authorities assess the impact of rising regional tensions that could affect international air travel and pilgrimage arrangements.
Officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs said the step was taken as a precaution following reports of potential military escalation involving Iran, the United States and Israel. The government is monitoring the situation closely to avoid disruptions to travel routes used by Pakistani pilgrims heading to Saudi Arabia for Hajj.
Authorities said the decision affects only the scheduling process for Hajj flights, while other preparations for the annual pilgrimage are continuing as planned.
Visa processing continues for pilgrims
Officials confirmed that the issuance of Hajj visas for Pakistani pilgrims is continuing without interruption. Visa processing is currently underway around the clock to ensure that travel preparations remain on schedule.
According to ministry sources, nearly two-thirds of Pakistani pilgrims have already received their visas. The remaining visas for approximately 120,000 pilgrims are also being processed.
Staff members at the ministry have been working extended hours to accelerate the process, with some employees postponing leave to maintain the pace of visa issuance.
Final schedule expected before Eid-ul-Fitr
Officials said the government aims to release the final Hajj flight schedule before Eid-ul-Fitr, provided the regional security situation remains stable.
Once finalized, the schedule will include details such as flight timings, accommodation arrangements in Saudi Arabia, building bookings, room allocations and transportation for pilgrims.
These details will be made available through the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ official website and the Pak Hajj mobile application.
Training sessions planned after Eid
The ministry has also finalized arrangements for the second phase of Hajj training sessions for pilgrims. The training program is expected to begin shortly after Eid-ul-Fitr.
Officials said the sessions will provide guidance on Hajj rituals, travel procedures and safety measures to help pilgrims prepare for the journey.
