Islamabad — A Pakistan Navy helicopter operating from PNS Saif evacuated a family stranded on a rooftop in a flood-hit area of Sri Lanka during ongoing humanitarian relief efforts, officials said on Sunday.

According to the information shared by the Pakistan Navy, a Z-9 helicopter deployed aboard PNS Saif carried out a search-and-rescue mission in Kotikawatta, one of the areas affected by heavy flooding.
The crew located a family that had been stranded for five days, including a 7-month-old infant, and airlifted them to safety.
Evacuated family moved to safe location with local coordination
After the rescue, the family was transported to a secure area in coordination with Sri Lankan authorities. Officials said the operation was carried out as part of Pakistan’s broader Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) support in the country.
Navy vessel already on overseas deployment
PNS Saif, which has an embarked helicopter detachment, is currently on an overseas deployment to Sri Lanka as part of bilateral engagements and disaster-response support.
