Pakistan, Kuwait reaffirm commitment to expand trade and economic cooperation

Islamabad: Pakistan and Kuwait have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across key sectors, following a meeting between Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Pakistan Nasser Abdulrahman Jassim Al-Mutairi.

The meeting focused on enhancing economic ties, boosting trade and exploring new investment opportunities, as both sides emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration between the two countries.

Haroon Akhtar Khan described Kuwait as a longstanding partner, noting that Pakistan is working to strengthen regional stability and economic connectivity under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif. He said efforts are underway to expand exports, particularly food products, to Gulf markets through dedicated government initiatives.

Focus on trade and investment

Officials highlighted the potential for increasing business-to-business engagement and strengthening economic linkages. Pakistan’s large market, natural resources and strategic location were presented as key areas of interest for foreign investment.

The Kuwaiti ambassador welcomed the discussion and expressed interest in expanding cooperation in sectors including food, information technology and trade. He also acknowledged the support extended by the people of Pakistan during challenging times.

Sector-wise collaboration opportunities

During the meeting, senior officials pointed to multiple areas for future collaboration. Saif Anjum highlighted opportunities in industrial development, including mobile phone manufacturing.

Meanwhile, Farrukh Shehzad Rao emphasized the scope for strengthening logistics, cargo and transportation links between the two countries to facilitate trade.

Both sides agreed to continue engagement and explore practical steps to enhance economic cooperation and mutual growth.
