Dubai: Pakistan and Kuwait discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the labour sector during a meeting held on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue 2026, with both sides expressing interest in advancing institutional collaboration and easing recruitment processes for Pakistani workers.
The meeting took place in Dubai between Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, and Rabab Abdullah Al-Osaimi, Director-General of Kuwait’s Public Authority for Manpower (PAM). The talks focused on enhancing labour mobility and formalizing cooperation between Pakistan and the Kuwait.
During the meeting, the federal minister said Pakistan values its longstanding relationship with Kuwait and is prepared to sign a proposed Labour Memorandum of Understanding. He noted that the agreement could be finalized during the expected visit of the Kuwaiti Crown Prince to Pakistan.
Both sides reviewed outcomes of recent high-level engagements and acknowledged what officials described as a constructive response from Kuwaiti authorities. Discussions also covered measures to expand labour cooperation, including a request from Pakistan for access to the PAM digital portal for Pakistani workers and overseas employment promoters to streamline recruitment procedures.
The minister highlighted the role of Pakistani manpower in Kuwait’s development, stating that Pakistani workers have historically contributed to key sectors and continue to have the skills required for future needs, particularly in infrastructure and related fields.
The two sides agreed to move forward with closer labour cooperation and to establish regular consultations. The Pakistani minister also invited Kuwaiti officials to visit Pakistan to continue discussions.
