Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, met with a high-level delegation from Korea to discuss avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the agriculture sector. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening ties, particularly in agricultural technology, livestock breeding, and sustainable farming practices.
During the meeting, ongoing projects under the Korea Program on International Agriculture (KOPIA) were reviewed. These projects aim to boost Pakistan’s agricultural productivity through modern techniques, including aeroponic seed production and improved fodder technology. The discussion also covered new initiatives, including a livestock breeding program to enhance milk and meat production in Pakistan.
Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain highlighted that Pakistan wants to learn from Korea’s advanced agricultural technology to improve its farming techniques and achieve higher productivity and sustainability. He reiterated that agriculture plays a crucial role in Pakistan’s GDP, and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given special focus to the sector’s development.
The Korean delegation extended an invitation for Pakistan to participate in the AFACI General Assembly meeting in May 2025, which will provide an opportunity for further collaboration and knowledge sharing in agriculture.
Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain assured that the Ministry of National Food Security & Research is fully committed to enhancing Pakistan’s agriculture sector and will continue working with international partners to achieve long-term growth and food security.
