ISLAMABAD: Quba Islamic Complex Islamabad has introduced what it describes as Pakistan’s first modern mobile Ghusl unit, designed to provide facilities for the ritual washing and shrouding of deceased people, particularly in emergencies and areas where proper arrangements may not be available.
The specially equipped vehicle is intended to serve people in Islamabad’s urban and rural areas as well as families dealing with deaths following accidents. The service will provide facilities for bathing and shrouding the deceased at no cost, according to the organization.
Mobile unit equipped with modern facilities
The mobile Ghusl unit has been equipped with air conditioning, hot water and other facilities needed to carry out the Ghusl and burial preparations.
Abdul Wajid, General Secretary of Quba Islamic Center, said the initiative was part of the organization’s commitment to serving the community and providing assistance when families face difficult circumstances.
He said the project was completed under the direction of Quba Islamic Center President Inam-ur-Rehman Kamboh and General Secretary Yasir Arafat Butt.
Service aims to address emergency needs
Abdul Wajid said there is often no proper arrangement for washing the deceased when deaths occur in accidents or other emergencies.
He described the mobile Ghusl unit as an initiative aimed at addressing that gap and providing families with a dedicated facility when it is needed.
The center has also launched several other welfare initiatives under its social service programme, including support for orphans and widows, a mortuary van, ambulance services, a vocational center for women, a free medical complex, a thalassemia center, mosque construction, Quran academies and a ration programme.
